Our History
Established in 1951, the Winterville Fire Department has been dedicated to serving and protecting the citizens and property of the Town of Winterville and the surrounding communities. Currently our department has a staff of 4 paid personnel, 10 volunteer officers, and approximately 50 volunteer firefighters. The Town of Winterville that we protect includes a population of approximately 10,000, and the department averages over 500 alarms per year. The department operates two Engine Companies, 1 Heavy-Rescue Company, and one Command Vehicle; all housed in our Main Street Fire House completed in 2004. The Winterville Fire Department protects Pitt Community College.

The Mission of the Winterville Fire-Rescue-EMS Department is to protect the lives and property of all residents, visitors and businesses in our service area.
The following goals are set forth:
To provide the highest level of fire and rescue protection with maximum effeciency within the limits of existing resources;
To provide 24-hour a day protection from the devestation of fire, medical and other emergencies;
To never sacrifice the safety of our members;
To maintain a high standard of training and education for the department and the community;
To promote teamwork, loyalty and respect within the department and the community;
