Director of Public Services and Facilities
The Town of Winterville seeks qualified applicants for the position of Director of Public Services and Facilities. The position is responsible for the direction of the Electric, Public Works, and Recreation Departments, as well as support staff including the Town Engineer, Construction Inspector, and Administrative Assistant. The position is responsible for coordinating the design and construction of Town infrastructure projects, for reviewing the design and approving the construction of new subdivision infrastructure, and for developing and implementing long-range utility service plans for the Town electric, water, stormwater, and wastewater systems. Areas of work for which the Director has supervisional responsibility include street maintenance, buildings and grounds maintenance, solid waste management, stormwater system management, electrical distribution system construction and maintenance, parks and recreation, sewer collection system, sewer lift stations, water distribution system, animal and mosquito control, and the general engineering needs of the Town. Work includes customary administration functions, including personnel administration, staff development, budget preparation and administration, and coordination of departmental work with contractors, developers, and other Town departments. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Town Manager.
Requires graduation from an accredited college or university with a degree in engineering or closely related field and considerable municipal engineering and construction experience, including supervisory experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Possession of a valid North Carolina commercial driver’s license is required. Being licensed as a Professional Engineer in North Carolina is highly desirable, as is substantial experience in the operation of municipal water, wastewater, and electric distribution systems. Drug screening required. Salary Range is $61,088 – $76,360. The Town of Winterville offers a competitive benefits package. Position is open until filled.

Electric Line Supervisor (Electric Department)
The Town of Winterville seeks qualified candidates for the position of Electric Line Supervisor for the Electric Department. The qualified candidate will perform supervisory and skilled advanced journey level work in the construction, maintenance, and repair of overhead or underground lines in the electrical distribution and transmission system. The qualified candidate supervises crew and participates in a variety of skilled and technical tasks associated with the electric distribution facilities and lines. Work requires frequent on-call and call-back responsibilities.
Requires graduation from high school supplemented by technical courses related to electricity and electrical theory, at least considerable experience as an electric line worker first class, and 40 hours of supervisory training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience Possession of a valid North Carolina commercial driver’s license is required. Drug screening required. Salary Range is $43,414-$65,121. The Town of Winterville offers a competitive benefits package. Position is open until filled.

The Town of Winterville is currently accepting applications for full-time Police Officer I. Selected candidates will perform a full range of general law enforcement duties. Duties will include, but are not limited to, patrolling the Town during an assigned shift in a police car or on foot; preventing, detecting and investigating disturbances and crime; performing traffic control work; apprehending suspects; and executing related assignments.
Position requires graduation from high school or the equivalent; current certification as a law enforcement officer in North Carolina; or current certification as a law enforcement officer in another state that is eligible for transfer to North Carolina; Basic Law Enforcement Certificate issued by the State of North Carolina; and a valid State of North Carolina driver’s license.
Selected candidate must meet and maintain minimum qualifications for the position as established b the Winterville Police Department and/or the State of North Carolina. The probationary hiring period will be in accordance with current personnel procedures of the Town of Winterville.
Minimum Hiring Salary: $30,854, plus excellent benefits. Open until filled.
