It has been brought to our attention there are many residents in Town that have planted shrubbery, trees, etc. in order to hide the green boxes located on their property. This notification is to inform residents who have planted/installed items blocking access to any transformers that these items must be removed before February 29, 2012, or the Town will remove and discard the items.

A notification is located on all transformer boxes stating “We need room to work safely on this device. Please keep shrubs and structures 10 feet away from the side with doors and 3 feet from the other sides. Obstructions may be damaged or removed during service restoration or maintenance.” The Town of Winterville Electric Department would like to thank you for your cooperation in this matter, and for helping maintain our electric system. For additional information, please call our Electric Department at 252-215-2421.

<![CDATA[Yard Waste & Debris...]]> http://test.wintervillenc.com/news.aspx?dept=12&section=105#108 Mon, 09 Jan 2012 00:00:00 -0700 http://test.wintervillenc.com/news.aspx?dept=12&section=105#108 This is a friendly reminder that the Town only picks up yard waste generated by the resident. If Town staff believes that a contractor is deliberately leaving yard waste at a residence that was not generated by the resident then we will not pick up the debris and will notify the residence in question. When this occurs and is not detected it costs the Town and ultimately the taxpayer’s money so if you notice this occurring please contact our office at 252-215-2412.
