Street Division
The Street Division of the Town of Winterville Public Works Department is responsible for the construction, maintenance, repair and revitalization of streets, town signage, mowing within the rights-of-way, street weeping, and the collection of limbs, garbage, pine straw, leaves & grass clippings and recyclables.
Solid Waste Management
It is important that citizens separate items and place them in separate piles. (Example: blocks of wood in one pile and tree limbs in another.) Please do not put tree limbs behind guy wires, cables, and television or telephone boxes. Place all items behind the curb, not in the street. Placing trash in the street creates a safety hazard. It also blocks the drainage system contributing to flooding. Pine straw and grass clipping can go in the same pile. Tires must be taken off the rim for pick-up. Old appliances are picked up on the second Friday of the month.
The Town of Winterville Solid Waste Management Services does not pick-up cardboard boxes or oil drums. Cardboard should be taken to the dumpster located at 1131 Reedy Branch Road (behind the Winterville Cemetery).
If you need to report a missed pick up or request an extra container, please call 756-2221, ext. 213.

Water and Sewer Division
The Water and Sewer Division of the Public Works Department is responsible for the operation and maintenance of the Town’s water supply system and the wastewater collection system. The water supply system includes three wells, one elevated storage tank, and the water distribution system. The wastewater collection system includes all of the collection system serving Town customers. Wastewater pump stations are maintained by the Electric Department, and wastewater is treated by the CMSD treatment plant in Grifton.
The Division is also responsible for the construction of larger diameter stormwater management piping projects, such as to one recently constructed in the Little Drive area. The maintenance of stormwater facilities, both open and piped, is the responsibility of the Streets Division.
