PARKS AND RECREATION SITE SUPERVISOR

The Town of Winterville Parks and Recreation seeks qualified candidates for the position of Site Supervisor.  An employee in this class provides evening and weekend facility supervision of part-time employees. Work is performed under direct supervision of the Recreation Program Supervisor.  The Site Supervisor will be directly responsible for (but not limited to): opening and closing of facilities, upholding facility/departmental rules, supervision of part-time employees (concessions, scorekeepers, officials, etc.), monitoring weather conditions, monitoring facility, providing positive and safe environment for children/participants, handling emergencies and/or injuries, filing reports on all incidents, interacting with the public, identifying and solving problematic situations. Applicants must possess excellent communication skills, an energetic and self-motivated personality, and strong leadership capabilities.

Graduation from high school or GED is required and possession of a valid North Carolina driver’s license.  Current pursuit of a degree in recreation or recreation-related field and current CPR/First Aid certification preferred but not required. Parks and Recreation After-School Hoops Site Supervisor.

The Town of Winterville Parks and Recreation seeks qualified candidates for the position of After-School Hoops Site Supervisor.  An employee in this class will oversee the After-School Hoops program held at Hillcrest Park from roughly 3pm – 6pm every Monday and Thursday afternoon. Work is performed under direct supervision of the Recreation Program Supervisor.  The Site Supervisor will be directly responsible for (but not limited to) setting up equipment, monitoring facility, providing positive and safe environment for children/participants, handling emergencies and/or injuries, interacting/participating with the children/participants. Applicants must possess excellent communication skills, an energetic and self-motivated personality, and strong leadership capabilities.  The anticipated dates for employment are April 10 – June 1, 2017.

Parks and Recreation Church Scorekeeper.

The Town of Winterville Parks and Recreation seeks qualified candidates for Church Softball Scorekeeper.  An employee in this class is responsible for running the scoreboard; keeping the books; general game supervision; and setting up before and breaking down after games. Work is performed under direct supervision of the Recreation Program Supervisor.  The softball season runs approximately June 1st through September 1st.  Must be available weeknights; softball games are played Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and occasionally Friday nights from 6:30pm-10:30pm.

Previous experience preferred but not required. Winterville Parks and Recreation Internship Summer 2017

The Winterville Parks & Recreation internship program seeks to expose the student to the many facets of parks and recreation management through participation in unique educational and professional development activities, with the goal of gaining valuable work experience in recreation administration, programming, facility management, and park management.

The internship is open to undergraduate and graduate students, as well as those who have recently completed their undergraduate or graduate programs and are seeking temporary practical training.  Interns should be enthusiastic and self-motivated, have strong communication, analytical reasoning, and research skills, as well as knowledge of recreation programming principles and methods. Must be able to work under time constraints, multi-task, and work independently as well as within a team. 

Specific duties during the internship include (but not limited to) maintenance, programming, and administrative work agendas. Assisting in the development and operation of recreation programs related to environmental education, cultural arts, senior citizens, athletics, health and fitness, summer camp, and other areas of recreation programming.  Maintenance of parks and facilities which include operating machinery such as mowers, weed-eaters, paint machines, etc. The internship is extremely hands on and will require quick learning, and the ability to think on your feet.

The rate of pay is $8.00 per hour for twelve weeks at an average of 40 hours per week. Office hours are 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM Monday through Friday. Weekend and evening work may be required, must have a flexible schedule. The position will last 12 weeks from intern start date.
