Road Closure

Wednesday June 18th & Thursday June 19th

The contractor will be seal coating the west side of Railroad Street between Depot Street and Main Street starting at 6:00 am Wednesday, June 18th. This section will be closed all day to allow the seal coat to dry and will remain closed until Thursday, June 19th at 6:00 am. Also, the contractor will be seal coating and striping the parking lot in front of Town Hall tomorrow, Thursday, June 19th starting at 7:00 am. The section from Depot Street to Church Street will be closed until Friday, June 20th at 6:00 am to allow the seal coat to properly dry for 24 hours. We apologize for the inconvenience and asked for your patience.


Annual Conversion to Free Chlorine

The Town and GUC will begin their annual conversion to free chlorine Monday, June 16, 2025 for six weeks. Town and GUC Staff will begin flushing hydrants Wednesday, June 18, 2025 to assist with the conversion process in the system. The Town and GUC will convert back to chloramines on Monday July 28th, 2025. During the temporary switch to free chlorine, customers may notice a slight change in the taste or smell of their water. WHRB Juneteenth: Movie in the Park - SOUL (PG)

Friday, June 20th

The program is set to begin at 8pm.

Road closure at NCDOT roundabout project on Worthington Road

The intersection of Worthington Road and Corey Road will be closed by NCDOT from June 11th at 7 am until August 8th at pm for the continued work on drainage tie-ins as part of the roundabout construction. The road will be closed during the entire duration of this phase. This will be similar as the past closures where residents will be able to access their homes, but the intersection will be closed.

Worthington Road traffic will be detoured onto Old Tar Road to Laurie Ellis Road to Jack Jones Road to County Home Road. Corey Road traffic will be detoured onto Fire Tower Road to County Home Road.
