UTILITY/PUMP MAINTENANCE MECHANIC
The Town of Winterville is currently seeking qualified applicants for the position of Utility/Pump Maintenance Mechanic. An employee in this class performs journey level mechanical work in the operation, maintenance, and repair of large and specialized equipment and machinery in water and sewer pumping stations and performs a variety of unskilled and semi-skilled work as a member of a crew engaged in the construction, installation and repair of water and sewer lines and appurtenances. Work involves responsibility for maintaining and repairing a variety of pumps and motors and other equipment in water and sewer pumping stations. Work requires a knowledge of trade skills in mechanical and plumbing areas with some knowledge of electrical repairs. Duties will, include but are not limited, to the operation of construction equipment in the installation, replacement and repair of water and sewer pipes to specific grade and depth, and back filling and compacting the site. Work also includes making taps to water and sewer mains, installing hydrants, meters, and valves, and making repairs to the water and sewer system. Other tasks include performing locates of all pertinent water and sewer infrastructure, assisting in the operation of video camera equipment to identify system problems, performing checks and preventive maintenance and repair to wells, and related tasks. PART-TIME FIRE ENGINEER
