EQUIPMENT OPERATOR

The Town of Winterville seeks qualified candidates for the position of Equipment Operator. An employee in this class performs responsible semi-skilled equipment operation and trades work in the operation of large motorized equipment and construction and maintenance of streets, drainage systems, and in landscaping and collection of trash and yard waste. This position requires skilled knowledge in the operation of a backhoe, loader, or other medium equipment independently or with a street and maintenance crew.  Work includes performing maintenance and servicing of equipment used.  Work also includes assisting with a variety of unskilled or semi-skilled tasks when assigned to a crew.  The employee is subject to hazards associated with public works including working in both inside and outside environments, in extreme hot and cold weather, and exposure to various hazards such as loud noises, vibration, moving mechanical parts, electrical current, chemicals, odors, dusts, mists, and oils.

Position requires graduation from high school or the equivalent and some considerable experience in the operation of motorized construction equipment; or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required.  A NC commercial driver’s license or ability to obtain one within six (6) months is also required.                            

Salary range: $32,630 to $48,945 with starting salary DOQ. FIRE/EMS

PARAMEDIC.

The Town of Winterville, in conjunction with Winterville EMS Inc., is currently seeking qualified candidates for the position of Paramedic.  Work involves responding to the scene of emergency and non-emergency calls, operating emergency apparatus and equipment, applying necessary medical treatment and procedures to sick or injured persons, and transporting persons to a medical facility.  Work also includes preparation of vehicles, cleaning of vehicles, building and grounds, participating in continuous in-service training, training and mentoring other providers, and providing assistance to members of volunteer fire and emergency medical service organizations, as requested. The job involves a 24/72 shift schedule including weekend, holiday and overtime hours.  Applicant must be able to follow and understand Pitt County Protocols. Employees in this class are exposed to the normal hazards of emergency rescue work, including risk of exposure to human body fluids and infectious diseases, thus the work is subject to the OSHA requirements for blood borne pathogens.

Graduation from high school or the equivalent with a current North Carolina Paramedic certification and at least 1 year of field service required. BCLS, ACLS, PALS, and BTLS, PHTLS, ITLS or ATT certifications also required. Qualified applicants must also be NIMS compliant, have the ability to pass Medical Boards and function in Pitt County per Medical Director’s requirements and have a valid North Carolina Driver’s license. Approval of applicant is contingent upon approval by Pitt County Medical Director. Salary range: $37,773 to $56,659 with starting salary DOQ.
