If you have traveled through downtown Winterville recently, you might have spotted our new planters! They are designed to improve safety of people walking and driving by preventing falls off a difficult to-see recessed curb (identified as a safety hazard during a community walk audit) and to better define the "floating stop sign" at Railroad Street. They also add some greenery! Plants are currently working hard to settle in and develop their roots, but starting in the spring, you can expect to see a mix of native and naturalized wildflowers, shrubs, and grasses, including yucca, evergreen partridgeberry, coneflowers, bee balm, little bluestem grass, and blue mistflower."
