On this solemn day, we pause as a community to remember September 11, 2001. Twenty-four years later, the memory of that day remains vivid for our nation and for countless families whose lives were forever changed.
Mayor Ricky Hines and the entire Town of Winterville stand in solidarity with the families, friends, and loved ones of those we lost on 9/11. You are forever in our hearts. We also honor the courage of first responders, the resilience of survivors, and the strength that emerged when communities across our nation came together in the face of tragedy.
We know that for some in Winterville, this remembrance is deeply personal—whether through connections to New York City, to the Pentagon, to Flight 93, or through the shared grief we all carried that day. To all who mourn, please know that your Town stands with you.
As we look back, let us also look forward with purpose. The unity, compassion, and service that defined the days after 9/11 are values we can carry with us today. Here in Winterville, we remain committed to be a community where neighbors support one another and where love and care are stronger than fear.
Together, let us continue to build a future worthy of those we lost—a future rooted in compassion, resilience, and unity.
