Students and School are back in session.

For Students:

Be Aware: Pay attention to your surroundings. Use the Buddy System: Walk with a friend or group for safety, especially in public areas. Report Problems: Tell a teacher, resource officer or trusted adult about suspicious behavior, threats, or if you feel unsafe. Follow Rules: Adhere to school rules and emergency procedures. Plan Your Route: Know the safest way to and from school, avoiding dark or isolated areas.

For Parents:

Communicate: Talk to your child about their day and potential safety issues. Know the School's Plan: Familiarize yourself with school safety plans and emergency procedures. Update Contact Info: Ensure the school has your correct emergency contact information. Get Involved: Ask about school safety efforts and consider organizing parent watch groups.

For Drivers:

Be Alert in School Zones: Obey speed limits, and watch for children, parents, and crossing guards. Stop for School Buses: Never pass a school bus that is stopped to load or unload children. Put Down Your Phone: Avoid texting or using your phone while driving in school zones. Use Designated Drop-off Areas: Use safe, designated spots for dropping off and picking up children.

Students and School are back in session and this means increased traffic and drive times. Please plan accordingly. School buses will be present twice a day and make frequent stops, so be vigilant! Children will not be watching for you. When a school bus stops in most cases so must all other traffic. Violations can result in a $500 minimum fine, 5 insurance points, and potential license suspension. You will also see an increased presence of officers at the schools during drop off and pick up, this is not due to any threat but merely to ensure the safety of our children during these busy times.
